Sauna Water Buckets

The bucket holds your session's water and the ladle controls how much you pour onto the stones at a time. Together they let you produce steady, even löyly instead of dumping water all at once, which keeps the steam soft, slow, and controlled.

Wood looks classic but absorbs water, can warp or crack, and harbors bacteria if not dried after every session. Anodized aluminum won't rust, stain, or take on water, holds its finish through repeated heat cycles, and lasts longer with much less maintenance.

A 1.3 gallon (5 liter) bucket is the standard size for home saunas. It holds enough water for a 30 to 60 minute session without refilling and fits on most sauna benches. Our Virta™set is sized at exactly this capacity.

A small ladle pour, about half-full, is usually enough. The 13.5 oz Virta™ ladle is sized so a single scoop produces a clean wave of löyly without flooding the heater. Pour slowly across the stones rather than dumping in one spot.

Empty the bucket after each session and let it air dry to prevent mineral buildup. Wipe the inside with a soft cloth and rinse with warm water as needed. The anodized finish resists staining, so you won't need detergents or harsh cleaners.
